Privacy Policy

This policy explains what FicRoot collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

FicRoot stores a small amount of information in your browser to remember your reading position, reader text-size preference, and whether you have already asked for alerts on a story. For guests, this information stays on your device unless you clear your browser storage. When signed in, reading position and saved stories are also stored with your reader account so you can continue on other devices.

If you contact us, we receive the information you include in your message, such as your email address and message content.

If you choose to sign up for chapter alerts, we collect your email address and the stories you asked to follow. You can unsubscribe from every alert email.

Reader accounts and comments

Reader sign-in uses Supabase Auth for email codes, passwords, and supported Google or Discord sign-in. If you choose social sign-in, the provider shares identity and email information with Supabase. Passwords submitted through FicRoot are passed securely to Supabase for storage and verification; FicRoot does not store passwords in its own database. FicRoot stores your verified account identity, email, username, optional bio, avatar color, and join date. Your username, bio, avatar, and join date are public. Your email, saved library, and reading history are private. Comments and replies are public; reports are available to the site administrator.

We use essential sign-in cookies, expiring server sessions, and hashed rate-limit identifiers to protect accounts and reduce spam. You can sign out other devices, change your email after verification, or delete your account in Account settings. Deletion removes your reader profile, saved library, reading history, and comment text; replies by other readers remain. Separate chapter-alert subscriptions can be stopped using their email unsubscribe links.

Analytics and advertising

FicRoot uses privacy-focused Umami analytics to understand overall site usage. If we show ads through Google AdSense or another advertising partner, that partner may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, limit, measure, and personalise ads where permitted by your choices and applicable law.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Where required, we will present a consent message that lets you accept, reject, or manage advertising and analytics choices.

How we use information

We use information to run and protect FicRoot, improve the reading experience, answer support requests, send requested chapter alerts, and meet legal obligations.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may use service providers that help operate FicRoot, such as hosting, analytics, email delivery, and advertising providers. They may process information only as needed to provide their services.

Your choices

You can clear FicRoot browser storage through your browser. You can unsubscribe from chapter alerts using the link in an alert email. You may also ask questions about this policy by emailing support@ficroot.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when FicRoot changes. We will post the updated version here and change the date above.
